ABOUT THE CHAPARRAL RV CLUB OF NEW MEXICO
CHAPARRAL RV club of New Mexico, a Family Motor Coach Association (FMCA) affiliated RV club, has been in existence since 1969. It was the fourteenth chapter to be formed in the FMCA affiliated group of RV clubs.
Chaparral is a relaxed, comfortable group of RV'ers who enjoy going around to the various areas in New Mexico, and to some adjoining RV parks in Arizona, Colorado, and Texas, usually on a monthly basis between March and November. We cap off the year with a December get-together.
At present we have about sixty members and usually have about twenty rigs at our monthly outings. The outings, or rallies as we call them, are, in general, three or four day affairs, starting with a happy hour group get together on the first day, some activities for the second and third day for those who enjoy that sort of thing (the rest either goof off, putter around their rigs, or go shopping/sightseeing in the locale), sometimes a pot-luck dinner at the rv campsite, or a catered affair, or a group dinner in town, for one or two of the nights, and the rest of the time pretty much up to the individuals. As you can see, we really are a comfortably structured group, and just enjoy getting together at the various sites we visit.
We have a luncheon in Albuquerque once a month, presently at Furr's on Wyoming, where club news and gossip is exchanged, announcements about upcoming rallies are passed out, and the various details necessary to keep the club moving along, are taken care of. Once a year at a general meeting, coordinated with one of the rallies, our next year's officers are chosen, and ideas for the following year's rally sites.
